Must Know Information About Chroming These Parts
These are one of the most difficult items on a Hayabusa to have chromed. Buy these from a company you can trust! And be sure to ask questions before buying!
There are a few common problems. Most shops do not remove the fork ends before sending to the chromer. This causes several problems! If the forks ends are left on then the chromer will mask the cylinders which can leave some chroming material on the cylinders. This will make your forks leak round the fork seals. If they try to buff it off then this will put waves in the cylinders which will also make your seals leak. The only way to fix something like that is to replace the entire lower fork. By masking them it makes the transition from the fork end to the cylinder chrome rough and not only looks bad but it is highly likely that the chrome will flake off over time. The other big concern with not removing the end is that the seal in the bottom of the fork end gets hard/brittle and will leak around the top of the fork end. These O-Rings are not readily available and cannot be purchased from Suzuki. Removing and reinstalling the fork ends is difficult because they are not manufactured to be removed. We have perfected this process! This is a Very Important step that our competitors skip! Another is replacing the fork seals. Fork Seals are not made to be removed and reinstalled. Plus it only makes since to replace them when rebuilding the forks. We use only OEM Suzuki fork seals. From our experience they last longer and work better than any of the aftermarket seals. Only top of the line Motul Fork Oil is used in our chrome forks. Once again doesn't make sense to reuse old fork oil when rebuilding them. We have perfected this process and have yet to have a set leak or come back to us for any reason at all!
